To Rome, With My Love

Give in at last to sacred pilgrimage!

A journey to reveal what books ignite,

My feet can’t wait to tread upon the bridge

To ancient ruins, bathed in Roman light.

Here, Caesar came and saw and conquered all--

A mighty empire stretched across the land,

Carrera marble figures deck the hall,

As Renaissance reshapes the painter's hand.

So woven with the past, the here and now,

Boasts culinary feasts of food and wine--

What better place to celebrate our vow?

As star-crossed love is bent to realign.

I go with grace, adventure far from home,

To taste, at last, the splendor that is Rome.
