Confessions of an Over-Zealous Mother

A mother serves her kids too much advice,

To save them from the pains she has endured,

While kids insist you let them pay the price,

Exhibiting the proof that they’ve matured.

Good counsel misconstrued as cutting down

Puts tender noses sorely out of joint--

They want to catch the next plane out of town,

Avoiding tempers pushed to tipping point.

Apologies if insights have offended,

Or second guessed your own specific plan,

To see you rise above would be so splendid,

Devoted, I remain your biggest fan.

At times your parents perpetrate a mess—

Committed as we are to your success.
